2 November 2012
2012 Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix: Friday

Formula 1 governing body the FIA has, as expected by many in the paddock, confirmed a huge increase in entry fees from the start of the 2013 season. The change will see the reigning World Champions paying significantly more than their rivals.

The modification, released in the 2013 Sporting Regulations on Thursday, appeared under Appendix 7 on the 46th and final page of the official FIA document.

- Every other competitor will be required to pay a basic fee of US$500,000 plus US$5000 (£3,100) for each point that competitor gained in the 2012 World Championship for Constructors.

'In both cases the basic fee is due at the time of the application and the remainder by 30 November of the year prior to the year to which this application relates.’
