Vettel: Still plenty of chances despite relegation
4 November 2012 – In a sensational development for the 2012 Formula 1 season, Sebastian Vettel will start Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from the pit lane as opposed to his qualifying position of third. This follows a disqualification from Saturday’s session after the championship leader stopped on-track and did not have enough fuel left for a sample.
“I’m not sure what the issue was at the end, I was just told to switch off the car,” the German explained before going on to discuss the penalty. “One of the best ski jumpers of all-time once said, ‘Every chance is an opportunity and, as far as we are concerned, there are still plenty of chances tomorrow’.”
Title rival Fernando Alonso, who sits 13 points behind Vettel with three races remaining, is now presented with a superb opportunity from sixth on the grid. To make matters worse for Red Bull, overtaking has always been notoriously difficult at Yas Marina.
