Following on from his fifth-place finish in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Pastor Maldonado is hopeful of a similar result as Formula 1 returns to the United States for the first time in five years. This weekend's race will take place at the newly-constructed Circuit of the Americas, marking the penultimate round of the championship.
"After a good performance in the last race in Abu Dhabi I’m looking forward to getting in the car again and seeing what we can achieve in Austin," Maldonado explained ahead of the race. "The team has worked very hard to get the car back to the sort of pace that can consistently challenge for points and that is what we will be looking for in this race.
"The track is new so it will be challenging to get the right set up, but that is the same for all the teams. It looks like a fun and challenging track to drive from the work we have done in the simulator and the American fans should bring a really good atmosphere as well."
Williams is currently eighth in the Constructors' standings with a total of 73 points to its name. The Grove-based squad sits 22 points adrift of rivals Force India.
