Pérez given fine on top of reprimand
16 November 2012 – Sergio Pérez is considering the US Grand Prix as his home race, as Austin's Circuit of the Americas lies only 250 miles from the Mexican boarder. Friday was a somewhat expensive start, though, as the Sauber driver was both reprimanded and fined.
The initial warning from FIA stewards was issued when the McLaren-bound driver was adjudged to have weaved dangerously in front of Timo Glock during opening practice.
Later in the day, Pérez was issued a fine of 1,200 euros (£960) for speeding in the pit lane 11 minutes before the end of the second session. This was the second fine of the day, as HRT reserve driver Ma Qing Hua had already been given a €2,000 penalty.
