Webber reprimanded, no action on Schumacher/Alonso
17 November 2012 – Mark Webber has received an official FIA reprimand for not stopping at the weighbridge during qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. At the same time, the stewards have decided to penalise neither Michael Schumacher nor Fernando Alonso.
Webber was called before the four stewards – one of which is former two-time World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi – after failing to stop to be weighed, at random which is a normal procedure, one minute before the end of Q1. As was the case with Jean-Éric Vergne in Bahrain, the car was wheeled back and an official warning was handed out.
Alonso described Schumacher’s actions as ‘unbelievable’ when the Mercedes driver blocked the Ferrari in Q2. Both men explained their versions of events to the adjudicators who, after reviewing video and telemetry, decided to take no further action - not least as Alonso 'was on the first lap of a multi-lap stint'.
