2012 American Formula 1 Grand Prix: Sunday race results

US Grand Prix stewards have elected to take no further action over a final lap incident between the Caterham of Heikki Kovalainen and Timo Glock’s Marussia.

The Finn was adjudged to have gone off-track when passing the German for 18th position, which he maintained as the chequered flag came out.

‘Car 20 overtook car 24 at Turn 15,’ reads the report from the four stewards, one of which was former World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi. ‘Car 24 left the track…the incident was considered to be a normal racing incident.’

On Saturday, both Marussia cars – originally known as Virgin – out-qualified the pair of Caterham chassis – previous dubbed Lotus – for the first time since 2010.
