2012 Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Sunday race results

On Sunday, Jenson Button ended the 2012 Formula 1 season as he had begun it in March: a winner. The 2009 World Champion, three years on from his title win, kept out of trouble and returned to the front when Nico Hülkenberg collided with Lewis Hamilton.

“It was a really good race, but one of the toughest ones I’ve ever had!” the victor commented.

“The conditions were so tricky and you’re locking up here and there, wondering if you’re on the right tyres. You just have to push the car to the limit and wait for the team to give you more info…it’s all about that too, not just the driving.

“It’s sad Lewis couldn’t be here with me (in the top three), but that’s racing and those things happen. I’d like to bid him farewell. We’ve had a good time together these last three years and proved over the first ten laps that we can have a really good fight.”

Button ends his season inside the top five, just two points behind Hamilton and nine ahead of Red Bull’s Mark Webber who finished today’s race in fourth position.
