2012 Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Sunday race results

Romain Grosjean's 2012 campaign came to an abrupt end at Interlagos on Sunday afternoon, with the Lotus driver losing control of his car at the high speed Mergulho corner on the sixth lap of the season finale. Touching a white line in the treacherous conditions, the Frenchman could not avoid sliding into the trackside barriers.

"I'm a little bit shaken but otherwise not too bad," Grosjean said. "Everything was nicely under control at the start then it all ended very suddenly at Turn 11.

"It was a strange one; I could see it was raining a bit more so I was taking it even easier than on the lap before (the accident), then suddenly the car just went from underneath me and that was it.

"I've not had much luck this weekend and that's not how I wanted to end the season, but overall it's been a good year and hopefully there will be many better days to come."

After a year filled with on-track dramas - and a one-race ban at Monza - Grosjean finished eighth in the standings, 111 points behind team-mate Kimi Räikkönen.
