Pastor Maldonado was the most penalised driver of the 2012 Formula 1 season, with the Williams pilot being punished 14 times. Ranging from grid drops to reprimands, the Venezuelan finished the year five ahead of nearest rival Michael Schumacher.
Sergio Pérez and World Champion Sebastian Vettel are third and fourth in the list, with Charles Pic also featuring near the top due partly to his community service order and time penalty in Singapore. At the lower end of the order, McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton had just two infractions to their respective names.
GPUpdate.net has established that there were a total of 98 penalties across the whole field in 2012, with Fernando Alonso one of only three drivers to escape any form of violation. Marussia's Timo Glock and one race Lotus stand-in Jérôme d'Ambrosio joined the Ferrari driver with the enviable statistic at the end of the campaign.
