Memorial service planned for Sid Watkins

A memorial service in honour of the late Professor Sid Watkins will be held in the New Year, with his family confirming the details of a special gathering in London in January.

Watkins, who died aged 84, was involved in Formula 1 for 26 years. He became the sport's Medical Delegate in 1978 and held the role until 2004. He was later elected the President of the FIA Institute, before stepping down in December of 2011.

The service will take place at Marylebone Parish Church at 11.30am on 18 January.
