Olympic Stadium Formula 1 bid rejected

Olympic Stadium Formula 1 bid rejected

6 December 2012

A bid to organise a Formula 1 race in and around the newly-built Olympic Stadium in London has been rejected by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC).

Intelligent Transport Solutions Ltd, along with three other candidates, presented their plans to the committee earlier in the year. However, the LLDC said the F1 proposal held 'too much uncertainty' and it is now favouring a bid by West Ham Football Club.

The 80,000 seater stadium, which has not had its long-term use officially confirmed, is set to re-open in the summer of 2015 following a post-Olympic Games renovation.
