Nico Hülkenberg says he 'feels ready' to take on the leading role when he moves to Sauber in 2013, with the German preparing to enter his third season in Formula 1. Having opted to leave Force India for the Swiss outfit, the 25-year-old will be joined by Mexican rookie Esteban Gutiérrez, a scenario he is looking forward to.
"Yes, I feel ready for that," Hülkenberg told the official Formula 1 website when asked if he is ready to lead Sauber. "It's not a case of bringing extra pressure, it's something that helps motivate me even more, but to be honest I don't see my role as much different to the one I was in this year. I will simply concentrate on my job of trying to deliver good results."
Hülkenberg also took the time to reflect upon his impressive 2012 campaign, explaining that he feels as though his driving skills have developed significantly.
"2012 was my second year as an active driver so there was plenty to learn and I think that I have made a step forward during the year as a driver, especially in qualifying," he added. "I feel that was an area where I improved throughout the season.
"F1 is still a very technical and complex sport so for me the experience you gain is a big benefit. Mileage - race mileage - is what makes a big difference in the end."
