Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has all but ruled out Austria returning to the calendar, shunning last week's rumours of a future race at the Red Bull Ring. The circuit, which last hosted a Grand Prix in 2003, has recently been refurbished.
"I have spoken to no one about it," Ecclestone explained to Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung. "Right now I'm thinking of Turkey returning in Istanbul. It seems as though we will have 19 Grands Prix next year - that would not be a problem for Formula 1."
Ecclestone expects a final decision over 2013's 20th race to be taken early next week, with the July 21 slot - confirmed by governing body the FIA at a recent meeting of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) - yet to be assigned to a Grand Prix venue.
