GPUpdate.net wishes you a Happy New Year
1 January 2013 – The entire GPUpdate.net team would like to wish you, our valued readers, a very Happy New Year. We hope that 2013 proves to be a healthy and prosperous time for you all, with another golden Formula 1 campaign in prospect.
The 2012 season was certainly drama-filled, with seven different winners from the first seven races. If that was not enough for the sport's most avid followers, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso took their incredible title fight down to the wire, with the Red Bull driver ultimately coming out on top in a thrilling Brazilian finale.
While the year was a massive success on-track, the motor racing community lost one of its most respected members in 2012; Professor Sid Watkins - he will be sorely missed. We also witnessed Michael Schumacher hang up his helmet for good, with the seven-time Champion calling an end to his illustrious Grand Prix career.
Looking ahead to 2013, there are already a plethora of questions to be answered. Will Lewis Hamilton thrive in his new surroundings at Mercedes? Can Sergio Pérez make a strong start to his McLaren career. Which team, if any, can knock Red Bull from the top of the order? What we do know is that the season will again feature 20 races, running from Melbourne on 17 March through to Interlagos on 24 November.
As per usual, you will be able to follow every single Grand Prix session via the GPUpdate.net live report system and, with only 35 days remaining until the opening pre-season test at Jerez, the only thing left to say is let the F1 action begin!
