Barrichello to contest 24 Hours of Daytona

3 January 2013

Rubens Barrichello will add a 24 Hours of Daytona outing to his Brazilian Stock Car Championship commitments this year, with the ex-Formula 1 driver set to enter the race alongside long-time friend and 2012 IndyCar team-mate Tony Kanaan.

Barrichello and Kanaan, who drove for the KV Racing squad last season, are part of a two-car Dener Motorsport GT entry, sharing the #21 Porsche GT3 with fellow Brazilians Nonô Figueiredo and Ricardo Maurício. Former F1 drivers Sebastien Bourdais, Anthony Davidson, Christian Fittipaldi, Jan Magnussen, Allan McNish, Juan Pablo Montoya, Nelson Piquet Jr. and Stephane Sarrazin will also be in action.

The 51st Rolex 24 At Daytona takes place between January 26 and 27, with entrants preparing for the preceding three-day test which begins this Friday. 57 teams will compete, with 17 prototype, 34 GT and six GX entrants making up the field.
