Gené extends Ferrari test driver deal

10 January 2013

Marc Gené has renewed his test driver contract with Ferrari for the 2013 season. The Spaniard, a member of the famous marque since 2004, will also continue his WEC programme with Audi, contesting the Spa 1000km and Le Mans 24 hours events.

"It is an honor for me to continue with Ferrari for the ninth consecutive year," said Gené, who drove for Minardi and Williams during his time in Formula 1. "The goal is to give Fernando Alonso a winning car and also for Ferrari to get the Constructors' title. I feel very comfortable with the development work that the team is completing."

Gené started 35 Formula 1 races in total, achieving his personal best result of fifth as a stand-in for unwell Williams driver Ralf Schumacher at the 2003 Italian Grand Prix.
