De la Rosa gets Ferrari development role

16 January 2013

Pedro de la Rosa has signed a deal with Ferrari to act as one of its development drivers throughout the 2013 Formula 1 season. The outfit, which is currently holding its annual Wrooom event in the Dolomites, announced the news on Wednesday.

De la Rosa was left on the sidelines at the end of last year when HRT was forced to close its doors. The 41-year-old recently explained that he was in no rush to finalise a test and reserve deal, but eyed an agreement with a 'top team'. The Spaniard's duties at Ferrari, alongside compatriot Marc Gené, will include simulator work.

After more than a decade of Formula 1 involvement, de la Rosa has represented the Jordan, Arrows, Prost, Jaguar, McLaren, Sauber and HRT outfits. His personal best result in the sport came at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix, where he finished third.
