Toto Wolff tipped for senior Mercedes role
21 January 2013 – Toto Wolff is set to become Mercedes-Benz's new Director of Motorsport. The 41-year-old Austrian, who has been acting as the Executive Director of Williams since the summer of last year, is expected to replace the departed Norbert Haug, who managed the car maker's motorsport division from 1990 through to the end of 2012.
Wolff joined Williams as a shareholder back in 2009, steadily increasing his involvement in the team. If he was to leave the Grove-based outfit ahead of the 2013 season, he would be giving up the role of Executive Director after less than half a year.
Williams also faced the departure of Chairman Adam Parr in 2012. Both he and Wolff were viewed as candidates to replace Sir Frank Williams as team boss in the future.
