Pirelli set to keep Alguersuari and di Grassi

23 January 2013

Pirelli is expected to retain Jaime Alguersuari and Lucas di Grassi as its test drivers for the 2013 Formula 1 season, with the Italian tyre manufacturer’s Motorsport Director Paul Hembery shunning rumours that Kamui Kobayashi is to take over the role.

"I read on Twitter that Kobayashi would be unveiled today as a test driver, but he won't," Hembery said at a press conference on Wednesday. "There is no reason to change what we have. We have had a great time with Jaime Alguersuari and Lucas di Grassi."

Alguersuari and di Grassi were signed as Pirelli’s development drivers at the start of 2012. Hembery explained to GPUpdate.net last month that he expects more simulator work to be carried out in the future, ahead of major regulation changes in 2014.
