'I’m proud of what we have achieved' – Mallya

1 February 2013

Sahara Force India Team Principal Vijay Mallya says he is proud of what his outfit has achieved with the new VJM06, which was launched at Silverstone on Friday. According to the 57-year-old, although the car is aesthetically similar to its predecessor, 'every detail' has been studied to extract as much performance as possible.

"I’ve followed the development of the car closely and I’m proud of what we have achieved," Mallya explained on Friday. "The objective now is to make sure we build on the promise of last year and have a strong start to the season.

"The VJM06 doesn’t look massively different to its predecessor, but beneath the skin we’ve looked at every detail to try and find more performance."

Despite increasing its points tally by forty from 2011, Force India slipped back to seventh in the Constructors' standings last year. Heading into 2013, the team has the benefit of a 50 million pound investment which was cleared at the end of last year.
