Mark Webber is confident that he will be a genuine contender for the 2013 Drivers' title, having been promised ‘100 percent support’ from his Red Bull team. The Australian, who again partners triple World Champion Sebastian Vettel, reckons the season ahead will yield a strong chance of claiming the coveted crown.
"Yes, I believe I can have a crack at the championship again this year, as I have done in previous seasons," Webber responded when asked if he believes he will be able to fight for the title this season. "That's my goal and that's what I'm getting up each day thinking about and working hard with the team on doing.
"They (the team) know I need 100 percent support. You can't fight for championships with 90 percent support, you need 100 percent. We’re going in to 2013 with this in place and I'm comfortable with that."
Webber, who recently had successful leg surgery to remove the final recovery pin from an old mountain biking injury, finished sixth in the 2012 standings - 102 points behind Champion Vettel. The 36-year-old will drive the new RB9, which was launched at Red Bull's Milton Keynes factory on Sunday, for the first time at Jerez tomorrow morning.
