Ricciardo 'a more confident person' in 2013

4 February 2013

Daniel Ricciardo has described himself as a much more confident driver this year, with the Australian hoping to draw on the experiences from his first full Formula 1 campaign. The 23-year-old, who is optimistic over the newly-launched STR8's potential, has high hopes over Toro Rosso's ability to move up the grid in 2013.

"The 2013 version of me is a more confident person and driver, with more self-belief than last year," Ricciardo commented. "I've always had the desire and determination to succeed and now I'm ready to reinforce that and let everyone see what I'm all about.

"I spent most of the winter Down Under and when I came back into the factory in Faenza, I could feel a very positive atmosphere with everyone excited about the new car. The target for us this year is very simple: to improve on last year."

Ricciardo will get behind the wheel of the STR8 chassis on Tuesday and Wednesday, before handing over to ongoing team-mate Jean-Éric Vergne for the final two days.
