New Marussia MR02 revealed at Jerez
5 February 2013 – Marussia's latest Formula 1 car, the MR02, was unveiled at Jerez on Tuesday morning. The car is the first to be designed under the technical leadership of former Renault man Pat Symonds and with the use of wind tunnel research.
Featuring more refined bodywork than its predecessor, the MR02 has also been fitted with KERS. This will be the first year in which the team uses the system, having narrowly missed out on tenth place in the Constructors' Championship in 2012.
"We embark on the first pre-season test of 2013 feeling very positive about our new car - the MR02 - and what lies ahead in this next important chapter in the development of the Marussia F1 Team," Team Principal John Booth explained ahead of the opening pre-season test getting underway. "We are confident that the MR02 is the product of evolving elements of last year’s package whilst integrating the new KERS system."
Max Chilton is the outfit's sole driver at present, with the team having been forced to part ways with the experienced Timo Glock for financal reasons last month. Last year's GP2 runner-up, Luiz Razia, is the leading candidate for the vacant seat.
