Di Resta 'very comfortable' on first day
5 February 2013 – Paul di Resta says he felt 'very comfortable' at the wheel of the VJM06 on Tuesday, with the Scot getting his first opportunity to test Force India's new car at Jerez. After a trouble-free day in the cockpit, the former DTM Champion ended up fourth quickest.
"A positive first day and we managed to cover lots of laps," said di Resta, who completed 89 tours of the Jerez circuit. "I felt very comfortable all day and we got through the programme as we focused on collecting aero data and understanding how well the car correlates with our simulation tools at the factory.
"We also started trying to learn as much about the tyres as possible so that we can carry that into tomorrow and optimise the set-up. The new compounds are quite different with the new construction and I’ve already felt a difference with the balance of the car in the low and high speed parts of the lap."
Di Resta will be back in action at Jerez on Wednesday morning, before development driver James Rossiter takes over for the afternoon session. The pair will alternate again on Thursday, before Jules Bianchi drives the car on the final day of the test.
