Despite enduring a number of issues during his two days behind the wheel of Marussia's new MR02 chassis at Jerez, Luiz Razia has been left with a predominantly positive feeling. The Brazilian, who was announced as Max Chilton's new team-mate on Wednesday, believes there is plenty to come from the team's latest design.
"It is unfortunate that we didn’t get the smooth day of running we hoped for, but we have to be happy to have completed most of our programme with the MR02 this week," Razia said. "I got the chance to do some of the planned performance work later on, but I didn’t get a clear shot at it so I don’t feel like I ended the day where I could have been in terms of lap time.
"What is good is that there is a lot of potential and we can see this very clearly. I’m very excited about the next two tests and I expect to see us making good steps forward. For now, I will reflect on a busy but exciting first week as a Formula 1 driver and what I can do to keep developing."
Razia (113 laps) and Chilton (107 laps) saw Marussia complete around three Grand Prix distances at Jerez this week, with the pair collectively touring the circuit 220 times.
