Kimi Räikkönen believes Lotus has made a significant amount of progress between the first and second pre-season tests, with the former World Champion explaining that he is happy with the general balance and raw pace of the new E21 chassis.
The Finn, who endured minor data-logging issues early on, says the Enstone-based outfit's latest car 'is definitely a step in the right direction' after testing it at a fully-fledged Formula 1 venue for the first time.
"It wasn't a ideal in terms of the number of laps we completed, but the car feels strong and we've made some good progress," said Räikkönen. "After Jerez it's nice to be at a circuit where we race and the E21 is definitely a step in the right direction. There's lots of work yet to do this week but I'm happy with where we are."
Räikkönen will be back in action at the Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday, before handing over to team-mate Romain Grosjean for the remainder of the week.
