Following on from the telemetry data-logging issues he suffered at the Circuit de Catalunya 24 hours ago, Kimi Räikkönen was faced with a troublesome gearbox problem on Wednesday. The Lotus driver, who was left feeling largely frustrated, had to make do with 43 laps while most of his rivals neared the milestone total of 100.
"If yesterday wasn't an ideal day then today was more of the same," said Räikkönen. "Fortunately, once we got a lap in we could see that the car has good pace.
"We test to find problems so in that respect we're doing a good job, but it's frustrating. It's no secret that we want to get more laps in and that's the target for the rest of this test and the final sessions next week."
Romain Grosjean will be handed the task of racking up more mileage in the E21 chassis for the rest of the week, with the Frenchman driving on Thursday and Friday.
