Valtteri Bottas says he instantly felt a step forward with the new FW35 chassis compared to its 2012 predecessor, having tested Williams's latest creation for the first time at the Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday. Completing a significant total of 98 laps, the former GP3 Champion finished sixth on the overall timing screens.
"I had a really strong first impression of the FW35," said Bottas. "Once we completed the aero work this morning I was able to complete my first proper run to feel the FW35 and the improvements we have made.
"Straight out of the box I knew we had made a step forward from last year, and I am looking forward to working to develop the car even further. It’s great to know we have a really good base to start from but there are still a number of areas we can improve upon, so I’m really excited for the season ahead."
Pastor Maldonado will be back in the FW35 on Thursday morning, before handing over to Bottas for the afternoon session. The duo is also set to split Friday's running.
