Former Ferrari director Roberto Nosetto dies

22 February 2013

Roberto Nosetto, a former Sporting Director of Ferrari, passed away at his home in Gallipoli, Italy on Thursday. Having held his role with the Scuderia in the latter half of the 1970s, Nosetto later became the Director of the Imola circuit and then served as the Race Director in both the MotoGP and the World Superbike championships.

"The death of Roberto Nosetto has saddened me deeply," explained Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali. "Apart from his name being irrevocably linked to the history of Scuderia Ferrari, for me personally, he was a very important person.

"It was under his tenure at the Imola circuit that I began my career in motor sport, when as a student, I tried to find things to do in the paddock, learning as much as possible from him, from his experience and above all, from his gentle nature."
