Bianchi: Mixed weather conditions useful
22 February 2013 – Jules Bianchi says Friday's mixed weather conditions at the Circuit de Catalunya provided 'useful experience' ahead of a potential Formula 1 birth, with the Force India man racking up a total of 61 laps in the VJM06 chassis. Trialling the new slick and wet tyres, the Formula Renault 3.5 runner-up finished the day fourth quickest.
"It was good to be back working with the team today and to feel the car in all conditions when the track was both dry and wet," said Bianchi, who was Force India's reserve in 2012. "It’s more useful experience.
"We did most of our dry running this morning and then did our aero work this afternoon when the track was wet. We didn’t manage to do long runs because it was so wet, but we still looked at a lot of things."
Bianchi is in a direct battle with Adrian Sutil for the vacant seat alongside Paul di Resta, with the the team recently explaining that it is not in a rush to make its decision.
