Mark Webber will get behind the wheel of Red Bull's RB7 show car at the Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend, with the Australian taking part in the Top Gear Festival. The event, which will be orchestrated by presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May, precedes the opening race of the Formula 1 season on the streets of Melbourne.
In addition to demonstration runs and fan events, Webber will compete in a unique race with four-time V8 Supercars Champion Jamie Whincup and two-time MotoGP title winner Casey Stoner. Driving the RB7, the 36-year-old is set to go up against Whincup's V8 Supercar and Stoner's Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade bike.
"A lot of effort has gone into organising this and it’s going to be an incredible event," explained Webber. "It’s going to be really great to demonstrate the different speeds of the cars and the bike. Obviously there’s a real V8 theme to the whole event but having Casey on the bike and the F1 car there as well is going to make it really cool."
Webber is preparing to embark upon his 12th campaign as a Formula 1 driver this year, having made a points-scoring debut at Albert Park with Minardi back in 2002.
