Schumacher rules out future F1 punditry role

12 March 2013

Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher has all but ruled out a Formula 1 punditry role in the future, explaining that he is already 'in the dark' about certain aspects of the sport. The German, who retired at the end of last season after a three-year comeback with Mercedes, is now focused on spending time with his family.

"To scour the paddocks of this world as a so-called expert is not my thing," Schumacher explained to Germany’s Bild newspaper. "Formula 1 is such a fast-paced world and as soon as you’re out of it, you're often in the dark about things. I don't like that.

"Also, I wouldn’t be with my family. Then I may as well have raced on, as that would have been more fun."

Since retiring, Schumacher has been supporting wife Corinna's horse riding activities. This includes horse breeding on ranches in Switzerland and the United States plus the production of specialised blankets which are sold under the XCS banner.
