Di Resta targets Q3 and points in Australia

13 March 2013

Paul di Resta has outlined reaching Q3 and scoring points as his objective for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, with the Force India driver hopeful that his team will be able to continue from where it left off at the end of the 2012 campaign.

The Scot made the final phase of qualifying on eight occasions last year, backing up his Saturday afternoon performances with nine points finishes. Although he admits the formbook is extremely difficult to read, his ambition remains unaltered for 2013.

"I think it’s only when we get to Melbourne that we will understand where we are compared to the other teams," said di Resta. "You can look at the lap times in testing, but everybody is focused on their own programme so you can’t make any assumptions.

"What we can say is that we’re determined to push on from where we finished last season and the target for Melbourne has to be reaching Q3 and racing for points."

Di Resta, the DTM Champion of 2010, has scored points on both of his previous visits to the Albert Park street circuit, recording tenth place finishes in 2011 and 2012.
