Rain gets heavier as qualifying approaches

16 March 2013

Following the mixed weather conditions throughout Saturday's third and final practice session at Albert Park, further rainfall has almost guaranteed a wet start to qualifying.

Just 15 minutes into the one hour session, a downpour restricted drivers to Intermediate and Wet tyre running. Soon after the chequered flag came out, conditions at the venue deteriorated further, with the rainfall returning and wind levels increasing.

Shortly before 4pm local time (GMT +11), there was also a power cut in the television compound, affecting various broadcasters' coverage as the build-up begins.
