Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Alain Prost has expanded his partnership with car manufacturer Renault through 2013. The Frenchman, who joined the company as a Brand Ambassador in February of last year, is now taking on an advisory role within the Renault Sport F1 Executive Committee alongside his regular commitments.
In addition to his advisory position and marketing duties, Prost will travel to a number of Formula 1 races this season. The 58-year-old is also planning to appear at various Renault-backed feeder events, including the World Series by Renault category.
"Renault has a long history within F1 and everything it has done in the sport has ultimately been a success," Prost explained on Wednesday. "Indeed I have achieved some of the greatest results of my career with Renault power.
"Over the past year I have seen that it has kept the same passion and rigour for F1, and it has stayed true to these values as it prepares for the new V6 power unit in 2014. I will use my experience and knowledge of the sport to advise on strategic and technical challenges - it's a very exciting time for everyone and together we represent very strong potential."
Prost won his fourth and final Formula 1 world title in the Renault-powered Williams FW15C, dominating the season with seven victories and a further five podiums.
