'Red Bull will no longer give team orders'
10 April 2013 – Red Bull will no longer issue team orders to Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. This is according to the outfit's long-time advisor, Helmut Marko, who previously admitted that the battle between the two drivers in Malaysia 'got out of control'.
Having been instructed to hold position behind Webber in the closing stages of the Malaysian Grand Prix, Vettel overtook his team-mate and claimed the victory. The triple World Champion was hit with a wall of criticsm, leading to a string of apologies.
In a bid to avoid the same on and off track drama at future Grands Prix, the Milton Keynes-based squad is set to allow its drivers to race without team instructions.
"Team orders won't be given by us anymore," Marko explained to Germany's Sport Bild, having stated directly after the race that internal discussions would be held.
In a recent GPUpdate.net poll, asking readers whether Vettel's move for the lead was acceptable, 72 percent of the participants pledged their support to Webber.
