Vettel, Coulthard to test drive Sochi circuit
13 April 2013 – Triple World Champion Sebastian Vettel and ex-Formula 1 driver turned commentator David Coulthard will attend a special promotional event at the new Russian Grand Prix circuit in Sochi, the location for the 2014 Winter Olympics, later this month.
Through Red Bull title sponsor Infiniti, Vettel and Coulthard are due to get behind the wheel of a road car and complete mileage at the part-completed venue on the Monday after the Bahrain Grand Prix, similar to the team's visit to New Jersey last year.
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone toured the Sochi track in February, claiming to be "super impressed" with progress. However, the original body behind the build, Formula Sochi, went into liquidation soon after and a new company, entitled Omega, has taken over to continue construction work prior to the circuit's planned 2014 debut.
Set to feature 16 corners and reach 5.872-km (3.649-mi) in distance, the Hermann Tilke-designed layout will be situated around a cluster of Winter Olympic venues.
