Kubica confirms Mercedes simulator test
28 April 2013 – Robert Kubica has confirmed that he has completed laps in the Mercedes simulator. The Pole still hopes to make a Formula 1 return after being seriously injured in a rally crash two years ago, with his condition allowing for the virtual test.
When questioned over the matter by GPUpdate.net earlier this week, the Silver Arrows remained silent and a team spokesperson stated that "no comment" would be made. However, speaking at the Rally Azores, 28-year-old Kubica confirmed the rumours.
"I can say yes, I was there [in the Mercedes simulator]," Kubica, who is combining his WRC2 duties with selected European Rally Championship outings, explained to Autosport. "But I cannot say how many times or how many laps I did. But there is this rumour to which I say, yes, I was in the Mercedes F1 simulator in the past."
Kubica, who tested a DTM car for the famous German marque earlier this year, does not yet know if he will complete further simulator outings at Brackley in the future.
