Rosberg drawing on Barcelona test form
3 May 2013 – Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is hopeful that the pace his team displayed at the Circuit de Catalunya earlier this year will stand it in good stead for the Spanish Grand Prix, with the outfit topping the timesheets on the final two days of pre-season testing.
Although the German is unwilling to make any specific predictions for the weekend, which will see the first major upgrade packages of the season applied throughout the field, he believes the Silver Arrows can add a significant points haul to its current total.
"We know that the car went very well at the Circuit de Catalunya in pre-season testing so I am hopeful that we can have a strong weekend," said Rosberg prior to Formula 1's arrival in Europe. "We will have to wait and see how our pace compares, however.
"It will be an interesting weekend and once we see how everyone performs in Barcelona, it should give a good idea of how the rest of the season will look."
During the recent break, Rosberg has made further trips to the team's factory in Brackley, completing mileage in the simulator and discussing development plans.
"I've been in the factory for a couple of days this week, on the simulator and meeting with the team," added Rosberg, who sits ninth in the standings on a total of 14 points. "Everyone has been working hard to make progress on our race day performance."
