Mercedes prepared to give Kubica F1 test
3 May 2013 – Providing Robert Kubica has recovered to a sufficent level of physical fitness, the Mercedes team says it would be willing to offer him a Formula 1 test. The comments, made by Executive Director Toto Wolff, come just days after it was confirmed that the Pole had completed mileage in the Brackley-based outfit's simulator.
Earlier this year, the German marque organised a DTM test for Kubica, before he ultimately chose to embark on a WRC2 programme with Citroën. However, Wolff is eager to offer the 28-year-old more opportunities should his condition further improve.
"If there's any chance of getting him back in a DTM touring car or F1 cockpit, we'd love to do it," Wolff explained to BBC Sport. "Any team would love to have a Robert Kubica."
Kubica has been recovering from injuries sustained in a rally crash two years ago.
