Vettel expects similar number of pit-stops
10 May 2013 – Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel says he is expecting a similar number of pit-stops to the opening four flyaway races at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, explaining that the modified Pirelli Hard compound tyre is not dramatically different to its predecessor.
The reigning World Champion, who topped Friday's combined timesheets at the Circuit de Catalunya, described the afternoon session as "fairly conclusive" for the Red Bull outfit, having tested a variety of new parts on the RB9 chassis.
"It’s hard to say much about the harder [Prime compound] tyre, I think the number of pit-stops will be the same here in this race as at the last few," Vettel explained.
The German added: "We have some new parts here but the days of big, big upgrades don’t really happen now with the regulations how they are. This afternoon was fairly conclusive, but this morning wasn’t really much good with the weather."
In the second Red Bull, Mark Webber ended the day as the third fastest driver, 83 thousandths of a second behind Vettel. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso split the pair.
