Di Resta pleased to achieve Q3 target
11 May 2013 – Force India driver Paul di Resta was in a positive mood following Saturday's qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix, with the Scot progressing to the final shootout phase for the third time this season and claiming a place on the fifth row of the grid.
Speaking to reporters in the Barcelona paddock after the session, di Resta explained: "I think we can feel pretty pleased with tenth because we achieved our target of reaching Q3. I did not quite get the maximum from Q3, because it was difficult to optimise the final sector on my out lap, but we are still in a good position for the race."
Like many of his rivals, di Resta believes tyres will hold the key to success on Sunday.
"Tyre wear will play a big role because this place is one of the hardest tracks for the tyres," he said. "Hopefully that will work to our advantage and we can make some progress with a good strategy and not spend too much time in the pit lane. There will be a lot of cars behind me with new tyres, so the race to the first corner will be crucial."
In the sister VJM06, Adrian Sutil was eliminated from Q2 and will start in 13th position.
