'We have a lot of work to do' – Hamilton
12 May 2013 – Lewis Hamilton says Mercedes has plenty of work to do if it is to fight with the front-running teams in future races, with the Briton stating that the team "must go back to the drawing board" after he failed to score a point in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton, whose race took a turn for the worse after suffering a major lock-up at the first corner, ultimately took the chequered flag behind Esteban Gutiérrez's Sauber in 12th position, a full lap adrift of home winner and Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso.
"We have a lot of work to do," Hamilton, who started from the front row of the grid, explained to BBC Sport after the race. "I fell really far back and I just don't know why. We must go back to the drawing board and figure out where it goes wrong."
Looking to the future, the 2008 World Champion added: "It's a great team, but we really have a lot to do to catch up with the leading teams. We will get there."
In the sister Mercedes, Nico Rosberg held off Paul di Resta to finish sixth.
