Di Resta 'left out to dry' in qualifying
25 May 2013 – Force India driver Paul di Resta says he was "left out to dry" during this afternoon’s all-important qualifying session in Monaco, with the Scotsman being eliminated from the opening knockout phase after a strategic error in mixed weather conditions.
Having posted the seventh fastest time in third practice, di Resta looked set to make it through to the final top ten shootout, but he wound up 17th at the end of a damp Q1 session, with rival drivers making late improvements on fresh Intermediate rubber.
"It was a clear thing that we should have done, so a few people in team will be kicking themselves," said di Resta. "But I will stop before I something I probably shouldn’t. I got left out to dry really; it's one of most painful qualifying experiences of my career. We have a difficult day ahead tomorrow with not a lot of hope of doing anything."
Di Resta added: "Qualifying was key to us doing something. We failed to do it after P7 [in third practice] this morning. We were very strong in the wet, but we’ll wait and see."
In the second Force India, Adrian Sutil progressed to Q3 and finished eighth quickest.
