Bottas: Second row grid slot a big boost
8 June 2013 – Valtteri Bottas has described his qualifying performance in Montreal as a well-needed boost for Williams, with the Finn making it through to the final top ten phase for the first time in his career and claiming third position on the Canadian Grand Prix grid.
With the Grove-based outfit failing to register a point during the first six races of the season, Bottas believes his result, achieved amid persistent rain showers, will serve as a source of optimism as it bids to return to the top ten on a consistent basis.
"It is way more up the grid than I could ever imagine," Bottas, the 2011 GP3 Series Champion, explained during the post-qualifying press conference in Montreal.
"It has been so difficult during the first six races of the season, so this is a nice boost for the team. We really got everything right today."
In the second Williams, Pastor Maldonado starts 13th after suffering a Q2 exit.
