Bottas: We still have a lot of work to do
9 June 2013 – Valtteri Bottas has admitted that Williams "still has a lot of work to do" after slipping from third to 14th during Sunday afternoon's Canadian Grand Prix, with the Finn unable to cope with the pace of rival cars in dry weather conditions.
Having starred during a rain-hit qualifying session, Bottas soon fell back as the race began, heading a large train of drivers in the opening stint before falling out of the top ten, prolonging the Grove-based team's run of races without a points finish.
"That was all, I got everything [out of the car]," Bottas admitted. "P14 after starting third is tough for us, but we need to take it. We still have a lot of work to do."
Despite the disappointment of missing out on a maiden points result, Bottas reckons his qualifying performance will serve as motivation for the remainder of the season.
"It was great for the team and myself," said Bottas. "It motivates us to keep pushing. We have a lot of potential and we really should be much higher than this."
In the sister Williams, Pastor Maldonado took the chequered flag in 16th position.
