Di Resta hails 'spot on' tyre strategy
10 June 2013 – Force India's Paul di Resta has heaped praise on his team for its Canadian Grand Prix strategy, with the Scot completing a mammoth opening stint of 56 laps on the Medium compound tyre to rise from 17th on the grid to seventh at the finish.
Di Resta, who fell at the Q1 hurdle amid gearbox troubles on Saturday afternoon, says the decision to stay out so long was "absolutely spot on" and has stated his intentions to enjoy a smooth home Grand Prix at Silverstone after two troubled weekends.
"I think given what happened on Friday we had a quick car," di Resta commented.
"Yesterday was another disaster. With no high fuel practice we had to get something out of the basket. Hopefully we can get a weekend without problems now."
Talking in more detail about his strategy in more detail, di Resta explained: "We were absolutely spot on. On the last lap I felt the tyres going away. We took the long game and made sure we got the points. Starting 17th and finishing seventh is quite good."
In the second Force India, Adrian Sutil wound up tenth, having lost positions late on after stewards opted to hand out a drive-through penalty for ignoring blue flags.
