Bottas keen to stay with Williams
13 June 2013 – Valtteri Bottas has said he would like to stay with Williams in 2014 although he added that at the moment he isn’t thinking about that too much and that his focus is firmly on the next race, the British Grand Prix.
The Williams team has struggled so far this season and as yet the Grove-based outfit has still to get to grips with the FW35. Indeed to date Bottas and team-mate Pastor Maldonado have yet to score a single point. However, Bottas did impress in Canada and made the most of the wet conditions in qualifying to put his car in third place on the grid. While he slipped back in the race, and only finished 14th, it was still an encouraging weekend.
“Sure, that sounds good!” Bottas told MTV3 when asked if he would like to remain a Williams driver in 2014. “Let's hope this [the relationship with the team] continues. There's no point though thinking about it too much.
“The best thing I can do is focus on the race and do my best. Things then go in the direction you want them to go.”
“I think Canada was good for me in that I was able to show my skills. Hopefully it proved that I deserve a place,” he added.
