Pirelli confirms tyres for next three races, no changes
13 June 2013 – Pirelli has announced the tyre compounds that will be taken to the next three races in Britain, Germany and Hungary. As reported on GPUpdate.net earlier this week, the tyre construction will remain unchanged, contrary to Pirelli’s initial plans.
“This decision is due to the fact that the new tyres, which were brought to the Friday free practice sessions in Canada, could not be tested sufficiently due to rain - and that the teams failed to agree unanimously about introducing the changes,” Pirelli stated.
Despite that, however, the Italian manufacturer is confident it has now addressed the delamination issues following a change in the ‘tyre production process’. No further details were given.
Meanwhile, for the British Grand Prix, Pirelli has nominated its two hardest tyres as these will be best suited to the high-energy demands of the Silverstone track. The hard and medium tyres will also be used in Hungary, while in Germany, the medium and soft tyres have been selected.
