Vergne: Canada gives us a shot of confidence
13 June 2013 – Toro Rosso’s Jean-Eric Vergne has said it will be important to keep up the momentum now following his 'important' and morale boosting sixth place finish in the Canadian Grand Prix last weekend.
The Frenchman was overjoyed after securing his personal best F1 result, but writing in his official post-race blog, he added that he is now looking forward and focusing on making it three-points’ finishes in a row at Silverstone later this month.
“This is an important result. It shows we are doing a good job, especially at the factory. It gives everybody in the team a shot of confidence and that includes me,” he wrote.
“So much so that on Sunday evening I was having a long chat with my engineer about the next race, in Silverstone. We have to keep the momentum and I’m looking forward to racing there again.
“I was very pleased with the result in Canada. It’s my best F1 finish and it is nice to put more points on the board.
“Ultimately though, the points are not that important, it’s the fact that the performance was good that is important. Sixth place is a good result but we need to forget it now and look forward.”
